Influência do tamanho de sementes de cenoura na produtividade da cultura

Resumo

Carrot crop has a great economic importance in Brazil. This crop does not show an adequate number of plants in its final stand, it is due to low uniformity of the size of seeds. The quality of a seed lot is also determined by their size. The aim this work was to evaluate the in‐ fluence of the carrot seeds size in vigor, the dry matter accumulation, the productivity and the market classification. Evaluations used were: first count of germination (vigor test); dry matter of roots; productivity; and production, based in the market classification required. Experiment was carried out in randomized block design, with four treatments represented by different sizes (T 1 : 1.6 to 1.8 mm, T 2 : 1.81 to 2.0 mm, T 3 : 2.01 to 2.2 mm and T 4 : 2.21 to 2.4 mm) and four replica‐ tions. The T 2 treatment showed greatest mean of germination percentage, in the first count. However there were no significantly statistical differences to the other variables. Thus, the seeds size neither has influence on the physiological potential of carrot seeds nor increase its productivity.
