Formação de areais e perspectivas de uso e manejo de neossolos quartzarênicos em Serranópolis (GO)

Resumo

In the first decade of XXI century the concern with Quartzipsamment soils must take place of prominence in soil science research. Commentaries in this paper are made about the potential use of these soils on the basis of physic, chemistry, and morphologic characteristics of samples collected in the region of Serranópolis in Goiás state of Brazil. The region climate is “Aw” of Köppen with dry and rainy seasons, and annual average rain of 1600mm, concentrated in the spring-summer seasons. Laboratory analyses indicate, in ample areas of this municipality, sandy soils texture, very poor in nutrients for cultivated plants, with 35.7mm of available water capacity, until 1m of depth, what it means, allied to the frequent occurrence of periods with more than ten successive days without rain, high risk of low annual cultures productivity. Given to the fragility of these soils, it is emphasized the necessity of planning with multidisciplinary vision in order to minimize the damages caused to the ecosystem. Brazil could use staff of university level, as geographers, agronomists, biologists, economists, social scientists to compose the teams necessary to contemplate the diversity and complexity of an integrated planning of occupation of these areas.
