Resumo
This text analyses the most significant theoretical back-ground points on urban space production under capitalist production. It makes a historical overview on the world wide urbanization and then it opposes on the Brazilian’s outskirts formation to some central and peripheral coun-tries. The aim is to apprehend what is singular and/or general in Brazilian outskirts. For such, it emphasizes the need of understanding of the outskirts formation pro-cess, observing the most different aspects of its daily reality. So, contributions from Geography, Architecture and Urbanism as well as History, Philosophy are used, which enlarges the debate on this topic.
