Resumo
An cxarnination of theatrical texts produced by thesc 16'b-ccntury Jesuits, from two angles: as part of a mcrcantile, cxpansionist project; and as a dcrnonstration o( prcvailing philosophical bases, in the light of Foucault's conccpt of similitude.
The work tracks references to Nóbrega and Anchieta in several histories of Brazilian literaturc, in an attempt, to identify wbal might bc callcd a Brazilian core in the writings of the two Jesuits, in spitc o( the scerningly European con!iguration of their tcxts.
