This article shows and discusses the linguistic State policies for the Brazilian Indigenous Peoples, from colonization on, assuming that those policies will be effective only in connection with other measures to be taken by the State, mainly those regarding the official registration, safeguarding, and the usufruct of the Indigenous Peoples lands
