Resumo
This brief essay analyzes the repercussion of the proposal of the Marcha para Oeste by Cassiano Ricardo, in that important group of the Oeste magazine in the period of the Estado Novo (1937-1945). That group seeks the development of lhe State of Goiás through its incorporation to Brazilian nation. The appartemence of lhe State of Goiás to Brazil had occurcd in a double way: on thc onc hand, the young Brazilian nalion promoting its unity and ils position before thc civilizcd ocidental world; on the olher hand, the élites of State of Goiás trying simultancouly .10 favour ils civilizing process, building its regional identily to face lhe Brazilian National State.
