Resumo
The purpose of the project is to understand the prison library system in the State of Goiás, since the library has as a fundamental role the dissemination of information and the rescue of the citizenship of prisoners. Therefore, it presents itself as an effective alternative for the insertion of these individuals into society. This research fits in the form of qualitative approach, and as far as the objectives as descriptive - exploratory. Data collection was carried out through interviews with responsible organs and observation at Consuelo Nascer Women's Prison, part of the Aparecida de Goiânia penitentiary complex. From the analysis of the data it was possible to identify in a general way how the libraries are administered and the actions that are developed in favor of the incentive to reading and education.
