Atuação fisioterapêutica na doença de Huntington: relatos de casos

Resumo

Introduction. The Huntington’s disease is a severe progressive neu-rodegenerative disorder with autosomal dominant transmission. The clinic provided health insurance includes chorea movements, which are the most frequent motor changes, and disturbances of behavior characterized by irritability, insomnia, or depression and changes in memory. Physiotherapy seems to be a useful treatment in any stage of the disease and an alternative approach in patients with Huntington’s disease. The objective of this study was verified by case reports, such as physical therapy may act to treat carriers of the disease. Method. Four cases have been reported with Huntington’s disease, all members of the same family. Conclusion. At the end of the study, it showed that the performance of physical therapy in Huntington disease presents an important role, not as a characteristic delay the progression of the disease, but maintain the functional aspects for as long.
