Competitividade dos principais produtos agropecuários do Brasil: vantagem comparativa revelada normalizada

Resumo

The present paper analyzes the competitiveness of Brazil’s main agricultural products to the world through the normalized revealed comparative advantage index. The main contribution of this study is to use an alternative method (normalized revealed comparative advantage) to measure and compare the competitiveness of the main Brazilian products in order to check which products have comparative advantage and its dynamics. All products showed normalized revealed comparative advantage in relation to the world in the analyzed period, between 1996 and 2007, with the exception of the first year for pork and corn. Soybean showed the highest rates, but this competition has stagnated over the years. Among the meats, poultry meat showed the highest rates and increasingly, indicating that a dynamic product and growth potential for years to come.
