Resumo
This paper aims to determine whether there is
positive correlation between changes in income of the
population and the consumption of chicken meat in
brazil in the period 2002/2006. to this end, we used the
monthly consumption of chicken and the average
household nominal income for the period studied. the
hypothesis is that variations in income positively
influence the consumption of chicken, opposing the idea
that there will be reduction in the consumption of
chicken meat when there is an increase in income, since
consumption would be replaced by beef. the results
show that there is positive correlation between
changes in income and increased consumption of
chicken in the period studied, confirming the working
hypothesis.
