Resumo
Dissection has been a main tool of anatomy teaching in the majority of universities
through generations, in which Health Science students learn the basic principles
of human body construction. The aim of this study was to describe the activities,
applicability and importance of the Anatomical Dissection Course on the Department
of Morphology (DMORF), Federal University of Goiás (UFG), to health care professionals,
internal and external undergraduate students of UFG. A transversal quantitative
study was performed, based on secondary data from application forms, publications
and evaluation questionnaires. The course has developed publication of scientific papers
and presentations at regional, national and international congresses; contributed to the
knowledge on anatomical formation to students of different educational institutions,
to the improvement of the healthcare professional performance in their activities,
therefore improving the quality of health care. The dissection course has established
itself as an excellent opportunity to train students from other institutions and UFG and
health professionals, leading to enhancement of anatomical knowledge. The Anatomical
Dissection Course has become a great opportunity to enable students from UFG
and other universities and health care professionals on the field of anatomy, leading to
increase in anatomical knowledge, manual and surgical skills, scientific production, in
addition to produce anatomical pieces for studying purposes.
