Resumo
Presents na overview of bibliotherapy in Brazil and seeks to show the difficulties and limitations tha this practice faces in the country, under the theoretical, practical and geographical biases. However, before entering this objective, it was necessary to conceptualize bibliotherapy, understand the bibliotherapeutic components of this practice, as well as address the relationship between bibliotherapy and library Science so that the reader can better understand the topic discussed. In order to expose the panorama of bibliotherapy in Brazil, a bibliographic survey was conducted in which twenty academic studies of bibliotherapy were exposed in all regions of the country. To highlight the difficulties and limitations of this practice, online questionnaires were sent to researchers working in the field and complemented by what already existed in the specialized literature, with these two sources it was possible to obtain the difficulties and limitations under the theoretical biases, practical and geographical. It is stated that for the field research, twenty researchers were selected to submit the questionnaires online, but only eleven answered in the requested period. By uniting the results of the field research and the bibliographic survey, it was found that among the main difficulties and limitations of bibliotherapy are the lack of scientific recognition and the little dissemination of this practice, even within universities. In addition, one can also cite the lack of adequate training for professionals, which results in a lack of uniformity and consensus between them. There was also a limitation regarding the unequal distribution of bibliotherapy courses and academic studies in the country, which are concentrated in the South, Southeast and Northeast regions and are rare in the Midwest and North. It is concluded, therefore, that bibliotherapy deals with several difficulties and limitations and that overcoming them will require scientific and academic recognition and greater dissemination, thus, the demand for courses and training for bibliotherapists may increase and expand for all regions of the country, making the practice more widespread among users.
