Resumo
Renal tuberculosis is the third most frequent clinical presentation of extrapulmonary tuberculosis, and may be part of a disseminated
form of the disease or as a localized one. It is causes by Mycobacterium tuberculosis that reaches the kidney by a
lymphohematogeneous spread. Symptoms of the disease are, as a rule, the ones of cystitis (dysuria, hematuria, urinary frequency,
suprapubic pain, etc.). The diagnosis is usually done by isolation of pathogens in urine or from biopsy. Ultrasonographic examination
is important, among other imaging studies, because it shows in more detail the texture of the renal parenchyma, their
boundaries and relationships, the presence of microcalcifications and other renal disorders in the chronic phase. The case report
of this paper seeks to illustrate well the clinical and ultrasonographic features of renal tuberculosis.
