Resumo
We relate the epistemological revolution associated with the rise of the concept of subjective
vision -‐ developed in romanticism and critical to the rise of modernism -‐ with ways of
conceiving art and education. We emphasize that both romanticism, as modernism, were
guided by a humanism that celebrated, wanted to protect and stimulate impulses described as
natural dispositions of human beings. We stress, however, that such movements masked there
role in disciplinary strategies that built the modern subject.
