| Resumo: | Jagunço é o sertão (GSV, p.236), diz o narrador de Grande sertão veredas. A história do jagunço Riobaldo é paradigmática na discussão do tema jagunçagem e sertão na literatura brasileira; a figura do jagunço e a instituição da jagunçagem possibilitam compreender a questão do poder no sertão. O objetivo do artigo é, partindo da obra de Guimarães Rosa, examinar o mito do jagunço e suas reconfigurações simbólicas na literatura produzida em Goiás, em que o sistema de jagunçagem apresenta-se como essencial para a construção do prestígio dos chefes e a manutenção do poder. |
| Abstract: | Gunman is the countyside , (GSV, p.236), says the narrator of Grande Sertão Veredas. The history of Gunman Riobaldo is paradigmatic in the discussion of the gunmanship and the countryside theme in the Brazilian literature; the gunman s figure and the gunmanship institution enable us to understand the power matter in the countryside. The aim of the article is, starting from Guimarães Rosa s work, to examine the gunman s myth and his symbolic reconfigurations in the literature produced in Goiás, in which the gunmanship system shows to be essential for the construction of the chiefs prestige and maintenance of the power. |
