Resumo
The present paper aims to investigate the possibilities and impossibilities of the intersection
between the therapeutic use of art, especially photography, and the Psychology of Art
proposed by Vigotski, since the author’s innovative contributions on the topics of art and
creativity give centrality to the transforming potential that lies within them. Therefore, it was
decided to carry out a bibliographic review accordingly to Prestes (2012). It was observed
that, when understanding art as a social technique of sentiments, both the act of
photographing and photography as an object can contribute to the transformation of the
psyche, reorganization of consciousness, appropriation of the human legacy, construction of
autonomy, etc. In conclusion, the dialogue between Socio-Historical Psychology and the
therapeutic use of photography speaks of a field of potential, but further studies on the subject
are needed, which is still very incipient in the field of scientific production.
