Resumo
The objective of this article is to present the results of a research project
on highly recommended children’s books produced in Canada and Brazil recently. The
project was undertaken with the assistance of the Government of Canada, through the
. Two Canadian institutions had an important role in the
initial investigation: The Canadian Children’s Book Centre (ccbc), in Toronto, and The Centre
(crytc), at The University of Winnipeg,
in Winnipeg. In Brazil, (fnlij) was
an important source of research. The main goals of the project are: to investigate highly
recommended Canadian children’s picture books that have been recently published, with
a special focus on changes in family structures, particularly concerning the father figure;
to identify similarities and differences between Canadian and Brazilian children’s books.
