Impactos sócio-espaciais e político-econômicos dos megaprojetos de mineração em Moçambique: o caso da exploração do carvão mineral de Moatize

Resumo

The aim is to analyze the megaproject of mineral coal exploitation from Moatize, seeking to understand the socio-spatial, political and economic impacts and the contradictions inherent of this megaproject, regards to organizational forms or socio-spatial reorganization in order to meet the interests of transnational capital. This analysis was based on the Geographic space category, according to the design of Santos (1997) and the historical and dialectical materialism as a phenomenological method of interpretation. Based on bibliographical and documentary research it was possible to understand that the beginning of the mineral coal exploitation raised the socio-spatial, political and economic reorganization in local place so to achieve the production demands of this megaproject or its complementary activities. The launch of this activity has created tremendous pressure on State institutions, increased socio-spatial segregation, while that generated job opportunities, as well as produced a small domestic or foreign elite who actually is more benefit from these megaprojects.
