As categorias território e poder em Geografia

Resumo

The purpose of this article is to clarify the relations of two important categories for the construction of Electoral Geography. The Power category spans the institutional and social relations of the State and its organizations in the construction of the State and Territory, showing how intentionalities, signs and symbols of power interrelate to constitute their force in a given space, in the perspective of forming constituencies. In this way we dialogue with important authors who deal with the theme, such as Dahl (2012), Arenth (1985), Foucault (1979), Raffestin (1993) and Souza (2000). As for the conceptualization of the Territory, we seek to understand its genesis from Classical Geography, with Ratzel (1914), in the perception that the State exists only from the constitution of its territory, in what Ratzel establishes as its genes. Boden, the soil. We go through Raffestin (1993), who conceptualizes the territory from the construction of power and by Souza (2000), who builds the concept of mobile territory, important for the analysis of electoral geography and, finally, the territory used, Santos (2005).
