Resumo
This article objectifies to comprehend the Geography education contributions on the
formation of the basic education students regarding the conceptions construction and
deconstruction about the Goiana identities in Goiânia. How the students conceive
what is to be Goiano? And what makes part of their identities? Throughout it we
identify the major geographic elements used by the teachers for the construction and
deconstruction of the identity speeches, the main reference was the students and
teachers perception. The problems that are foreseen around the theme are that in
the contemporaneity it is necessary to discuss the cultural diversity, the identity
cultural and territory conflicts for that the students are able to recognize themselves
as social cultural subject, building an environment of respect to the different
identities. And still, the media and the State exert a role in the construction of these
identities that can be analyzed by the Geography education. However, allying such
thematic to the Geography education is a challenge. At first it was identified that the
didactic books do not point the referred themes neither the Goiana cultural reality in
their geographic interpretations. Teachers and students gave testimonials about this
reality in the Geography education. The methodological procedures used to the
fulfillment of this article were lectures, direct techniques in the field, interviews,
questionnaires, mental maps, reports and photographs.
