A meretriz medieval na tradição da sátira misógina: a contribuição de Marbodo de Rennes

Abstract

The misogynistic tradition of the Western Middle Ages manifested its literary influence in the eleventh and twelfth centuries by means of a kind of satirical criticism of the feminine reality written in Latin. One of the most representative figures of this literature of satirical intention, besides Walter Map and Andre the Chaplain, is Marbod de Rennes (c. 1035-1123), whose De meretrice (The Whore) is the object of study and critical analysis of this article.
