Resumo

This study was conducted in order to explain and analyze the relationship of the local media - local magazine, with the creation of local celebrities in the construction of a collective imaginary. We tried to focus on social and economic reality of the city of Inhumas and consequences of communication interventions on the local scene. We proposed an understanding of power relations between the media product and society as well as the interaction of individuals with the presentation of their image and their products in the environment in which they live their daily routine. The methodology of the work under examination is characterized as a qualitative research, because there is a dynamic relationship between the real world and the subjectivity of the matter that can not be translated into numbers. In order to obtain greater precision about the matter was made a qualitative field research through the use of questionnaires consisting of open questions aimed at those people who had their names and images published more than twice in the media analyzed. The data allowed a deeper analysis on the role of activity of the media under study in the collective imaginary of the local society in question and the construction of local celebrities. From the standpoint of the goals, was discussed an explanatory research to identify factors that determine or influence the occurrence of phenomena. The scientific method was the hypothetical-deductive, and from the point of view of technical procedures, the search was taken from literature, in other words, from published material, such as journals, books, articles, internet texts and others.
