Resumo

The present study objective to identify, from the context of the Internet, the Informational Behavior of high school students of the State College High Jardim Alto Paraíso, located at sector Jardim Alto Paraíso in the city of Aparecida de Goiânia - GO. In order to achieve this goal, featured students surveyed identified the sources of information used, as verified seek and use information from the Internet and identified barriers in the search and use of information process. The sample chosen to represent the universe was 22%, totaling 61 students. The research has a quantitative approach and the specific nature of the objectives using semistructured questionnaire was necessary. The collected and organized data confirm that the Internet constitutes the main source of information used by students surveyed, surpassing even the printed book. There was also the dominance of Google as the search engine on the Internet. The data showed that the use of the school library (called the reading room) is greatly reduced. The survey also revealed that the main barrier faced by students during the search and use of information is financial. Based on the theoretical model of Wilson and Walsh (1996) data confirm the presence of the following intervening variables: variable - Environmental; variable - characteristics of information sources and variable - interpersonal. We conclude this research suggests the need to plan and schedule within the teaching-learning strategies for developing information literacy, thus trying process, generate greater efficiency in information search and highest quality in the use of information by the students surveyed. We believe that through a program of information literacy in the school surveyed students can develop more effective learning at school and in other environments throughout their life process.
