Resumo

This assignment investigates the processes of symbol representation at the Cinema as a speech which discusses the world. Based on the question “are the new technologies helping Cinema comes to an end?”, the project treats Cinema language as versatile, adaptable, and innovative. The vanguards, which come from extreme tension periods, recreate and reorganize Cinema as they did when the cinematograph arose. Language and capture processes cannot get along with each other anymore. I highlight a specific movie in this assignment, in order to get an escaping point: Antichrist, by Lars von Trier. This work surprises all spectators with its horror and fantasy aesthetics. Those elements exist to attempt a successful way to build both characters of the movie (the characters are not named): He and She. The almost rejection of classic conventions of language comes with a stylistic aspect which narrates the movie. This means that analyzing Antichrist is trying to write about elements present on the 103 minutes of the movie (from the noises to the ellipsis montage). No element is an accessory, and this is why I talk about Psychoanalysis to interpret the most superficial of narratives: literature narrative; about German Expressionism and Dogme 95, to talk about introspection of the theme and constitution of image, what takes us to the last point; about image reception, going through a human device of realizing image elements. To reach those goals I use literature.
