Resumo

In the search for muscle and function balance, aesthetic myofunctional intervention promotes better health conditions to the individual, by taking into account aesthetic, functional, emotional and social aspects. Besides the physical gains, this study contributes to improved well-being and vitality, compromised in aging. The general objective of this study was to analyze the quality of life of 39 women, between 30 and 45 years, with facial photoaging grade II, submitted to myofunctional aesthetic intervention, comparing the pre and post intervention. This is a clinical trial, experimental, self-controlled, conducted at the Service of Dermatology Dr. Aiçar Chaul of Clinics Hospital - HC, of Federal University of Goiás - UFG. The intervention period was 17 weeks, and weekly individual meetings, including 10 therapeutic sessions. In evaluating of the quality of life was applied the instrument Medical Outcomes Studies 36 - item Short-Form (SF-36) and the myofunctional aesthetics evaluation were used the anamneses protocol a Muscle Improving Program in Facial Aesthetic Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences - MIPFAP, a standardized protocol of aesthetic evaluation, beside protocol of photographic record of the patients, created for this study. A socio-demographic questionnaire was given, based on the Portuguese version of the World Health Organization Quality of Life WHOQOL. After the myofunctional aesthetic intervention was found a significant improvement in orofacial muscle tension, wrinkles, sulcus and in the realization of stomatognathic functions of chewing and swallowing. Improvement was observed in muscle tension in the regions of glabella and eyes, and chewing speed and in excess of mimic in speech, in all patients with changes in these aspects. In the quality of life there was a significant increase in the mean scores of the domains general health, vitality and emotional aspects, with the predominance of a moderate correlation between the SF-36 domains. In conclusion, the myofunctional aesthetic intervention favored the myofunctional balance and facial rejuvenation, contributing to improvement of the quality of life of women with facial photoaging grade II analyzed in this study, on the domains general health, vitality and emotional aspects. Thus, the quality of life should be an indicator in the analysis of results of myofunctional aesthetic intervention in order to guide actions based on the appreciation of patient in his human condition.
