Resumo

The professor generally has high vocal demand in its teaching activity, many times in inappropriate conditions of work. The phonoaudiology can act in a preventive way and in the promotion of the vocal health of the professor, emphasizing the cares with the voice, changes in the conditions of life and in the professor work, with involvement of the school community and society. The objective of this study was to verify the impact of a phonoaudiological action in the quality of life concerning to the voice of professors. First of all, a theoretical study was carried through, by means of a systematic revision of literature and, following, a research almost experimental. The objective of the systematic revision of exploratory was to verify if there are studies on quality of life related to the voice of professors from levels of infantile, basic, average and superior education, searching articles in four databases. The initial search resulted in 315 articles, and 13 had filled the criteria of inclusion for the revision. The Questionnaire of Quality of Life concerning to the voice (QQL) was the most used instrument in the research. It was verified that the physical domain was the most implicated in the population of professors, mainly with respect to saying loud in noisy environments and air finishes fast and needs to breathe many times while it speaks. It has few articles published concerning to the quality of life related to the voice, with different and unequal distribution between the education levels and types of school. In the almost experimental study, the objective was to verify the impact of a phonoaudiological action in the quality of life with regard to the voice of professors. The group of participants was constituted by 20 professors of basic education of three public schools of Goiânia. The professors who had presented three vocal complaints had been invited to fill the QQL and to participate of three meetings, one in each month and there, it was boarded aspects of the vocal production, cares with the voice, the conditions of the environment and organization of the teaching work. It was noticed that the vocal complaints of imperfection in the voice, ardor and pain in the throat when using the voice, frequent cough, effort to say and sensation of dry throat had diminished the after the phonoaudiological action; and the symptoms of loss of the voice, allergies, awkward sensation when using the voice had increased. In relation to the domains of the QQL, the answers show that the difficulties related to the vocal production as difficulty in speaking louder in noisy environments, the air quickly, and stop to breathe constantly while speaking, assume a more important role than the factors related to the socio-emotional domain. The study demonstrated that the majority of the professors presented low impact of the voice in the quality of life at the pre moment as much at the moment after the phonoaudiological action, although it was perceived that at the moment after it had an improvement of the impact of the voice in the quality of life in the domains physical and global.
