Resumo

Violence is a multifactorial phenomenon directly related to economic, social and cultural aspects and also can be classified in several kinds. The violence in the family is a kind of violence that deserves special attention because its consequences are even expressed in other contexts. Thus, at school, we found different patterns of violence, whose genesis lies not only the family but also in other contexts as the school. In this ambience the teachers deals with situations that can cause physical and emotional exhaustion that can affect their job. This is a descriptive and exploratory study, based on a qualitative approach, developed in a Public School of Goiânia, which sought to understand the meanings of the violence phenomenon from the sight of its teachers. The data was collected by focus groups and participant observation and analyzed by senses interpretation method from which emerged the categories The teacher and violence in his work context and The family influence to the violence in the scholar context . The first category is related to teachers understandings of violence in the school as well as about strategies to conduce situations where violence appears. In the second category it is discussed how teachers understand the family, media and economic system influence the students behavior in the school. Thus, from this research it was possible to observe that partnership between health and educational areas is necessary to preserve the teachers work in its essence. We highlight that it is necessary other studies about the phenomenon of violence in the school in order to increase the knowledge about the influences of the relationship among students and their families.
