Resumo

In the world wide and Brazilian context, the mortality profile in the ages from 5 to 19 years old is characterized by the high incidence of death by external causes (violence and accidents). The inner family violence against children, considered as external cause and the most frequent kind of child abuse, is a severe and usual violation of rights, because deny freedom, dignity, respect and opportunity to grow and develop in healthy conditions. The main objective of this study was to analyze the meanings of professionals from a Family Health Strategy (FHS) team about the violence against children cared at health services. The research, with FHS teams in Goiânia, was based in the social approach in the qualitative in health research. Eighteen people participated in this research (Community Health Agents, Nurses, Auxiliary Nurses and Doctors). The data were collected by semi-structured interviews with these professionals and by observation which data were noted in a field diary. The treatment of these materials was based in the thematic modality of content analysis, from which emerged three thematic categories: violence , violent acts , and professionals actions . These categories point to domestic violence as the most frequent in its physical, sexual, negligent and psychological modalities. Among the reasons to this violence occurrence is the unemployment, parents separation, alcohol or drug abuse, among others. Besides at, violence is seen by the professionals of FHS as a manner to parents educate their children that comes from generations. About the health care attending procedures for violence victims, there is a concern about orienting the relatives, to communicate the Tutelage Council and to refer the cases to hospitals and or another professional of the same FHS. However, the participants point that, at many times, the actions of communicating to another institution, as Tutelage Council, other institutions and professionals, consist in a strategy to pass the problem forward, given their difficulties to deal with the situation. Among the preventive actions, the participants relate that the relatives and children relationship, development of continuing education and the effective observation of the Health Professional in the housing visit moments. Therefore, the FHS health professionals understand the violence against children in a contextualized way, mainly in the family environment, were the children are seen as helpless being; the parents are seen as the main aggressors. Besides that, the sexual violence is considered as the worst case of abuse against children; meanwhile the physical can be considered a limit form, aiming the education of the children. Thus the study contributes to the health professionals of the FHS about the educational strategies and the prevention of child abuse, favoring still the confrontation on the detection difficulties and actions toward the problem.
