Resumo

Computer programming in education began in the studies of Seymour Papert in 1960, who saw in technology the possibility of a mathematical education that could pay attention on technological changes. However, there are still few students who have access to these tools due to the lack of school structure and teachers’ unpreparedness. This reality prompted us to carry out this investigation in order to identify the mathematical conceptual invariants that can be explored from a Scratch produced games creation situation and to develop a pedagogical proposal for the study of mathematical content from the perspective of the Vergnaud’s Conceptual Fields which is the proposal of the Educational Product. Scratch is a free and downloadable programming environment created by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that enables the creation of stories, games, and animations in a basic programming language. Its use for formal educational purposes depends on the existence of computers, and on a pedagogical proposal consistent with the methodological principles adopted by the school. Data collection took place in an NGO located in a peripheral region of Goiânia, with little access to technological innovations. In this environment, workshops were developed, attended by junior high school students, NGO attendees in the school day, organized in pairs, with the purpose of creating a game during the workshops. In the beginning, the meetings aimed to learn the Scratch software programming, and after the creation of the games. The study of the experience of the workshops was carried out with the purpose of identifying moments for the systematic discussion of mathematical concepts. This study highlights possibilities to treat, besides the computational language present in Scratch, concepts in the field of the Cartesian plane, integers and flat and spatial geometry with wide student engagement in the realization of the proposed.
