Resumo

Introduction: Preterm infants may have damage to the autonomic nervous system (ANS), which may be related to worse neurological development. Among the techniques used to evaluate the integrity of the ANS, heart rate variability (HRV) emerged as a simple, noninvasive and easily applied tool. Objective: To analyze and compare HRV in preterm infants at different times of hospitalization in order to verify the development of ANS during hospitalization. Methods: Longitudinal, prospective and analytical study with a non-probabilistic sample consisting of 25 HRV premature collections at two moments: moment I (within 15 days of birth) and moment II (after 45 days of birth). For HRV uptake, a Polar® V800 heart rate monitor with an adapted H7 heart rate transmitter was collected, which was collected at rest in the supine position for 15 min. HRV data were analyzed by the linear time domain method and the nonlinear method using the Kubios HRV analysis software, version 3.0.2. Results: There was an increase in HRV values at time II, which are relevant in SD1, ApEn and SampEn. Data related to increased sympathetic, parasympathetic nervous system modulation and increased complexity of indices. Conclusion: The data show an increase in HRV values in premature infants at time II, demonstrating a possible development in ANS maturation during hospitalization.
