Resumo

In this research we analyze the rural academic music from a critical perspective in which it sought to analyze its relationship with values and capitalist society. Rural music is a Brazilian genre that emerged in the interior of São Paulo. It comes as the process of adapting hick music begins to meet the demands of phonographic capital. Thus, rural music arises with the decoupling of typical and hick music through its process of mercantilization, bureaucratization and urbanization. It achieves great success in contemporary times from its insertion in these conditions of production. In this context, we raise the following research problem: "what is the meaning of the rural academic music?". To answer this problem, we work with the concepts of communicational capital and accumulation regime developed from the theory of the capitalist mode of production, aiming to understand the paths of rural music from the break with hick music to the historical context in which it emerges “academic rural”. Thus, we were pleased to explain about the sociology of culture and music, communicational capital, about the way of life, values and the issue of musical taste in capitalist society. The theoretical treatment of the research materialized in this dissertation is linked to the historical-dialectical materialism, thus, the main theoretical referential was based on the following authors: Karl Marx and Nildo Viana, and, regarding the specificities of the analysis about rural music stand out Caldas and Ferrete. The methodology used consisted of a bibliographic investigation based mainly on the mentioned authors, besides resorting to documentary research through informative material: lyrics, interviews, journalistic articles, etc. Considering these elements, we arrive at the result that the “academic rural” is intrinsically linked to capitalism and the intensification of commodification aggravated by the regime of integral accumulation and this explains its content, permeated by dominant values.
