Resumo

This work analyzes the Amazonian subject's multicultural ethos in utterances of the Caprichoso and Garantido Bois-bumbás of the Parintins Folklore Festival, from the year 2019. For that, we use the enunciative-discursive theory of Volochinov (2017) as well. as the assumptions about the discourse genre of Bakhtin (2011). Still on the theoretical threads of the research, we also rely on Maingueneau's concept of ethos (2008, 2012 and 2015) and the entire theoretical apparatus about the topic he outlines. In order to follow the path initially traced, we still use, due to the multidisciplinary nature of the research, concepts about multiculturalism by Candau (2008) and concepts that touch upon the folklore studies of Cascudo (2000) and Assayag (1995). Thus, based on the concept of dialogism by Voloshinov (2017), we take language from the interaction between subjects. Furthermore, we consider that language materializes in the form of utterances. Statements that, relatively stable, crossed by theme, composition and style, in a given activity and communicational situation, constitute a discourse genre. (BAKHTIN, 2011) In the case of this research, we take as corpus a sampling of the toada genre. A poetic-musical genre that dialogues with the items, costumes, allegories, speeches and positions that make up Bois' performances. Establishing dialogical relationships between meanings, statements, tunes and positions, we unveil the multicultural ethos of this Amazonian subject. Therefore, we divided our sample into social types: indigenous women, cabocla women, indigenous men, cowboys, erveiro, bushmen, fans, indigenous resistant victims and, finally, the multicultural man/woman. Considering the character and corporeality as well as the scenography, the ethos shown, the ethos said and the pre-discursive ethos, concepts by Maingueneau (2008, 2012 and 2105), we observe that the effective ethos of the subject integrates several cultures that constitute the subject Brazilian and regional specificities. However, the images and representations of the Amazon, produced by the statements in question, are circumvented by aspects of folklore, spectacle and the Festival's capitalist positioning. Thus, the effective multicultural ethos of the Amazonian subject unveiled here is challenged by the desire to show Brazil and the world a beautiful, attractive and exotic image of the Amazon, as it is this image that sells that attracts eyes and leaves players and tourists delighted and happy, able to consume folklore, city and state.
