Resumo

Feminine political engagement during Brazil’s Military Dictatorship was underestimated by diferent sectors of society, such as the bodies of repression and even left-wing organizations, resulting in the invisibility of women in this time period’s historiography. Aiming to fill this gap, we intend to scrutinize political performances from militant women of Brazilian Communist Party (PCB) in the estate of Goiás during Military Dictatorship period (1964-1985), from a gender relations perspective in dialogue with Cultural and Political History fields. In order to achieve this objective, we relied on collections and data from military repression bodies such as the Departamento de Ordem Política e Social (Dops-GO); Inquéritos Policiais Militares (IPM-GO); and Information agencies, whose staff hunted and punished militants encouraged by an anti-communist imaginary shared with civil society. In order to expand this analysis, we also examined documents of the brazilian Comunist Party (PCB) and reports from people who worked at the organization. The methodology used to study the source materials was based on Carlo Ginzburg (1992) evidentiary paradigma, looking for clues and data beyond what a given source intends to reveal. After thorough source material analysis, it was possible to imply different ways in wich political action was taken by women members of Goiás’ PCB branch: the relationships with the party; repression; families; professional training and politics in the Soviet Union; and views on feminine emancipation. The 39 women actvists from PCB-GO analyzed in this work assumed leading political roles, achieved high places in the party structure, fought actively against the dictatorial regime and, trough their trajectories, placed Goiás on the agenda of international disputes known as Cold War, travelling to the Soviet Union in a context marked by persecution of communism.
