Resumo

This work is a reflection on the communication of the Library System (Sibi) of the Federal University Federal of Goiás (UFG). The introduction of planned communication activities in libraries in Brazil, in general, is recent. In the specific case of the object of this research this reality is no different, because only after 19 years of creation of the library organ in UFG she had her first planned work communication. The absence of specific studies on the process of communication in libraries motivated this project, whose execution took place in the search for further knowledge about the communication model Sibi/UFG. It was proposed, as a problem for this research, analyze the communication issued by Sibi/UFG, having as parameter and representing the Reference Section, the Circulation Management and the Communication Sector, the three installed in the Central Library, from which he sought to design angles and facets of communication Sibi/UFG taking advantage of the institutional dimension of administrative communication, internal and institutional. These departments were selected because they are transmitters of information that is of direct interest of UFG community. The Reference Section and Circulation Management, moreover, also meet the main needs of the public to search the library. They are what might be called the nerve center of the body. In addition to the analysis itself communication issued by Sibi/UFG, took up as objectives of this research: check if the culture (philosophy, values, policies, goals) the institution is actually being expressed through communication that it issues; up means, flows and communication networks in selected sectors; check which means, among those used, are most effective in the question of the scope of public Sibi/UFG; identify the language and the strategies used to send communication are suitable for this audience, having as parameters the Reference Section, the Circulation Management and the Communication Sector, all in the Central Library, Campus 2 of UFG. The object was observed, based on studies Morin (2005a) and Wolton (2010), as a rich system of ideas, in which the research subjects are individuals belonging to a culture ─ the Sibi/UFG, which produces its own way knowledge about doing communication. The library was comprised in the environment where it is inserted, which is the UFG itself and its culture. This means that the library and the communication issued by it have been observed in a multidimensional way, communing thinking about complexity of Morin (2005a). The chosen method was the case study and interviews were used for empirical research. The population was divided into two groups: employees of the Central Library, effective and contractors (GROUP 1); and users of this library, composed of students and servants of UFG (GROUP 2). A questionnaire was constructed for each group and both were pre-tested before actual use. For GROUP 1 the questionnaire was administered personally by the researcher, one by one, totaling 25 respondents. For GROUP 2, the questionnaire was sent by e-mail through the Forms tool, Google Drive, given that the initial sample of this group contained 316 subjects. However, they got only 165 responses during the two months that the survey was open on the internet. Thus, the analysis of the GROUP 2 results was made from the 165 questionnaires received. It was observed that the Sibi/UFG has its own communication model that is based on your organizational culture and its values, mission, vision and philosophy; and that is also consistent with the Sibi management model, which is the co-responsibility.
