Resumo

Chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) such as cardiovascular disease, cancer, chronic respiratory diseases and diabetes, disease mental khans (Alzheirmer) are the leading cause of death worldwide, with about 36 million deaths estimated in 2008. Objectives: To determine trends for mortality of chronic diseases in the capitals of the Midwest of Brazil. Methods: deaths from chronic noncommunicable diseases recorded in the System Information Mortality were extracted (SIM), Ministry of available health at DATASUS in the 1996 period to 2011, occurred in adults from 40 years old in the Brazil's Midwest. Results: Acute myocardial infarction was the main cause of death for all sexes, for chronic diseases in the Midwest followed by cancer. The cancer mortality was higher in females. Breast cancer, lung, colon and rectum the most incidents in woman. In men, lung cancers, prostate, stomach had the highest mortality. Conclusion: The mortality from NCDs in Brazil's Midwest is high, but with stable trend during the study period. Cardiovascular diseases and cancer had the greatest impact in the Midwest capital.
