Resumo
The Samba de Roda of Recôncavo Baiano is a Brazilian Cultural Heritage and also Oral Heritage
of Humanity. Through an ethnography about the Sambas de Roda in/of Sertão of Bahia (which are
outside the Heritage Policy), as well as analyzing the heritage process of the Samba de Roda of
Recôncavo Baiano, I seek to compose and criticize an Ideology of Heritage. The Simultaneous use
of the preposition-article "in /of" – in relation to the sambas in/of Sertão of Bahia – indicates a
linguistic attempt to counteract a purely spatial and defined binding as proposed in heritage policy:
the Samba de Roda of Recôncavo. To the extent that the groups endorses the traditions of Sambas
de Roda from the spaces themselves, the analysis of "Sertão and Recôncavo" of Bahia also
contributes to an Heritage Policy review. In doing so, the knowledge built and represented here in
writing – based on musical experiences, rituals, voices, sounds, gestures and teachings from the
masters of Sambas de Roda in Bahia – objectives an approach to draw a critique about the Heritage
Policy and show other characteristics that indicates heritage value, which can be more flexible and
critical when analyzing the power of the State in the regulation of culture.
