Resumo

The quality of the vegetable seedlings is a determining factor, and can directly affect the production of any crop. In this way, the objective of this work was to evaluate the influence of the age of seedlings and biostimulants on the performance of industrial tomato plants at different stages of plant development. Two experiments were conducted in the Horticulture Sector of the Universidade Federal de Goiás, Goiânia-GO, one in the field and another in a greenhouse, in both pre and post-transplant trials. In the first, pre-transplant trials were performed in a completely randomized design with four replicates. The treatments consisted of six seedling ages (20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 DAS) and ten plants per replicate. The experimental design was a randomized complete block design with four replications in a 2 x 6 factorial scheme [without and with the application of Stimulate® and six seedlings ages (20, 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 DAS) ]. The data were submitted to analysis of variance by the F test at 5% probability. When the significant difference was found, the regression analysis was performed. Seedlings with seventy days showed superior results for height, number of leaves, diameter and dry mass of leaves and roots, but this was not reflected in the production, and there was no significant difference between treatments in this phase. There was no influence of the age of the seedlings and the use of Stimulate® on the production parameters evaluated. In order to recommend the best seedling age, studies on the financial viability of seedlings at each age are required. In the second experiment, pre-transplant evaluations were performed in a completely randomized design with four replicates. The treatments consisted of two types of seedlings, without and with paclobutrazol and three plants per replicate. The data were submitted to analysis of variance by the F test at 5% probability. The treatments consisted of two types of seedlings - without and with growth regulator (paclobutrazol) and seven biostimulants (Stimulate, Serenade, EnerVig, Px-Fertile, Vorax, Liqui-plex, Duo Organ +) plus the control (water). When the significant difference was found, the mean test (Tukey at 5% probability) was used. Under the conditions evaluated the biostimulants were not effective to improve the performance of tomato seedlings when paclobutrazol was applied. There was a positive effect in the increase of dry mass of leaves by the use of biostimulants only when not using paclobutrazol. At 21 days after transplanting the application of paclobutrazol, still showed residual effect, interfering in plant height, however, showed an increase in stem diameter, root volume, liquid photosynthesis, stomatal conductance.
