Resumo
Analyzing the legal documents concerning youth and youth in conflict with the law, it is
possible to observe that this left a historical space marked by negligence and / or exclusion
processes to enter a period of guarantees of law with current public policies. The present study
intends to verify if the achievements in the legislative plane allow the access and permanence
of the young person in conflict with the law in the school; understanding how the relationship
between this subject and the school environment occurs; as well as whether the school as a
fundamental institution in the process of the full exercise of citizenship has represented a
privileged place for the human formation and socialization of this individual. For the
accomplishment of this research, 63 young people in conflict with the law that fulfill
socioeducative measure in open surroundings in the municipality of Goiânia collaborated
answering questionnaires. Also participating in the research were 8 teachers of the modality
of Education of Adolescents, Young and Adults - EAJA who answered semi-structured
interviews. It is a qualitative research that has developed in different stages: documentary
analysis of the guiding texts, analysis of medical records of the young people who comply with
the socio-educational measure of open means in Goiânia; application of questionnaires to
young people; conducting interviews with teachers and analyzing and discussing the results
obtained. Knowing the profile of the young person in conflict with the law and the schooling
processes in which they are involved, allows us to verify that there is a delicate relationship
between the young person and the school, which is materialized in the high rates of
disapproval, in the discontinuity of the young person's school trajectory and school dropout.
However, it is still considered that the school represents for young people a privileged place
for the formation of identity and sociability. The final considerations point out that, even
though, since the last decades, there has been a greater emphasis and visibility both for the
young person who complies with socio-educational measures and for the field of activity of
EAJA, it is necessary that the articulation and intersectoriality in addition to what is proposed
in legislation and what efforts are made for this individual and for the space in which he
occupies in a specific way, since it is possible to notice that the way the school is organized
nowadays, have not contributed as expected, for inclusion , protagonism and success of the
young person in the institution.
