Resumo
This research has as its field of study the clothing of pictures of a Terecô party, especifically
those in the terreiro of my family, a place where I take part of activities for my spiritual
development, located in the city of Bacabal (MA). The house (terreiro) has the social name of
União Espírita de Umbanda de São Raimundo Nonato. I approach the religious, festive, social
and political universes of Terecô in Bacabal to think the path of the clothing and the senses of
beauty, thereby understanding how the clothes and the new clothes are seen and evaluated, also
the meaning of the colors, props and objects in place during the rituals, their function and how
these objects draw lines on social relations inside the religious community. Through the field
work, coupled with photographs as a resource, this work address, in a particular way, the
complex choice process and production of clothing used by players in spaces and periods of
rituals and parties. I work with photography as something that surpasses senses, and in addition I
try to understand the narratives that constitute the spaces of the terreiro. I propose the making of a
biography of the clothing in addition to photographs and autobiographical content, intertwining
an experimental etnography that seeks to perform a shared ethnographical experience.
