Resumo
The basis of sustentation of cattle breeding in Brazil
are pasture, implanted in 171 millions of ha. In the 35,7
millions of animals slaughtered in Brazil, just 1,5 millions
are terminated confined, the remain, approximatedly 34,2
millions, are maintain at pasture. At the last decade, the
brazilian creators of cattle for slaughter, making use of
techniques of management and alimentation, has searched
to product young bovines to slaughter, obtaining more
productivity and quality of carcass, and a more quick return
of the investiments and better remuneration. Considering
the necessity of increase of the productive efficiency to
commercial viabilization of the activity and the importance
of the nutrition in this process, the evaluation of alternatives
of supplementation is necessary. The objective of this
experiment was to evaluate the effects of mineral
supplementation and complete supplementation (mineral,
protein, energy and vitamin) in the characteristics of carcass
of Nelore, steers at pasture in the rainy season. The cattle in
this study has been maintained in pasture during the rainy
season. The 156 days of the season were divided into five periods, and 60 animals were evaluated. They were raised in
pastures of Brachiaria bryzantha cultivar Marandu. At the
beginning of the study the animals weighed a medium of
292,3kg (±19,2) and 27months (±2.6). They were submitted
to three treatments: mineral supplement, complete
supplement and a complete offered in two parts, one with
the mineral salts and other with the other nutrients. There
was no effect of treatments (P>0,05) for the loin area, external
fat, composition of the carcass in the forequarter,
hindquarter and side cut, carcass dressing and weight loss
during refrigeration.
