Aspectos epidemiológicos e tratamento da tungíase bovina no Município de Jataí, estado de Goiás

Abstract

This study was intended to describe the occurence of tungiasis in cattle from six farm in the southwest of the State of Goiás. 550 cows were submitted to clinical exams, which detected 375 (68%) animal with classical lesions due to tungiasis. The distal parts of the limbs, specially in the growing zone of the roof, and the interdigital tissue were affected mostly. Some lesions were collected by surgical procedure to be submitted to microscopic examinations. Parasites were found within these samples and they were identified by morfological characterization as mature females of Tunga penetrans. 43 cows showed typical lesions in the teats and 4 of those had clinicalmastites. Some animalswere limping.
