Resumo

In an attempt to evaluate the effectiveness of chlorfenvinphos and cyhalothrin against B. microplus at the dairy area of the microregion of Goiânia, state of Goiás, samples of Boophilus microplus engorged females were collected from cattle in 22 farms in the region. The samples were all submitted to the immersion test (in vitro method). The compounds were evaluated at the concentrations of 500 ppm and 45 ppm, respectively, which correspond to the concentrations commonly indicated by the companies to control ticks in cattle. The results, determined by the percentage of reproduction inhibition for engorged females, showed that chlorfenvinphos was 100% effective, while the effectiveness of 77,2% detected for cyhalothrin was considered unsatisfactory to be used as an acaricide in tick control programs.
