Resumo
Many of the preoblems in mathematics and other rlated areas leading to equations
of all kinds as algebraic equations, differential and integral. What motivated and
motivates mathematicians in the world is the solution of these equations, which is
not always an easy task. We present a history on the difficulty of solving equations;
these equations are the simplest kind: the polynomial equations. Given the difficulty
of finding exact solutions to algebraic equations, we face another problem: to find
approximate solutions. Thus we present and discuss four methods to find
approximate roots of equations.
