Resumo
A comparative evaluation process was carried out
between two methods of aflatoxins extraction, cleaning, and
purification, for High Performance Liquid Chromatography
(HPLC) analysis. The first one is the physical-chemical method,
based on chemical reactions for all the stages, and the second
makes use of a immunoaffinity column (IAC). The methods
were evaluated as related to recovery percentage, cost, time spent
for analysis, and number of samples analyzed per day. The
recovery percentage obtained through the physical-chemical
method was lower than the IAC method to B1, B2 and G1
aflatoxins, and higher to G2 aflatoxin. Both techniques presented
recovery percentages in accordance with established values by
the European Community (70% to 120%). Concerning costs,
the physical-chemical method showed to be the least expensive,
but its analysis process takes more time, because it involves
more steps and demands more caution from laboratory technicians.
Despite its higher cost, about six times higher than the physicalchemical
method, the IAC method showed to be faster and easier
to perform.
