Microbiota intestinal das aves de produção

Resumo

The animal gut is host to an abundant and diverse microbiota, has an enormous metabolic potential and it affects both the nutrition and health of the host, most of these organisms are considered commensal or symbiotic, but can also be detrimental. Microbiota in the intestine of an animal species has evolved together with the host. To better understand the chicken intestinal microbiota studies have characterized the different bacteria found in the gastrointestinal tract and the importance of intestinal microbiota for the performance of broiler chickens. Much of the information that has accumulated on the composition of the gastrointestinal microbiota of poultry and other animals has come from culture-based studies, more recently, various PCR-based methods have been developed to characterize and quantify the gastrointestinal microbiota. The objective of the current study was characterizing the main microorganisms present in the gut microbiota and its influence on performance and health of poultry production.
