Resumo
The present work is the result of an investigation whose objective was to discuss and to comprehend the role that the educational manager of basic education could assume under teacher training policy. We focus especially five aspects that act on the quality of education: the initial and continuous education, the salary and the career plan, the teacher training policy and the importance of the physical conditions of schools. The research involved six educational managers from various regions of the Goiania city. The methodological instruments were analysis of documents and semi-structured interviews. The results indicated that the profile of the manager proposed by these policies and incorporated by the manager in his practice is a profile of a leader with management and administration skills, but not without resistances and contestations, even being isolated actions, it prevails in the school the culture of the individualism and isolation.
