Resumo
This experiment was carried out to assess the efficacy of Syncro-mate B to induce suckled beef cows to cycle. 58
Canchim cows were used, to receive a 6 mg- of norgestomet implant’’ for 9 days plus 5 mg i.m. of estradiol valerate (SMB).
The cows were 98 to 175 anestrous postpartum days. Other 23 Canchim cows, in the same conditions, serve as untreated
controls. All cows were maintened at pasture and observed for estrous signs, and inseminated 12 hours after the beginning
of standing mounting. In the SMB group, 54(93,1%) showed estrous and 44(81,5%) became pregnant, while in the untreated
group only 10(43,5%) were in heat, and 8 (80%) became pregnant, respectively. In conclusion, SMB was effective to
induce ciclicity in anestrous postpartum cows.
