Desempenho produtivo do tambaqui (Colossoma macropomum) alimentado com farinha de vagem de algaroba em substituição ao milho

Resumo

This study was undertaken aiming at studying the effects of corn replacement by several levels of mesquite pod meal (Prosopis juliflora) (MPM) in diets for tambaqui. Diets were formulated to have the same energy, protein and fiber content. The replacement levels were 0, 25, 50 and 100%. 80 tambaqui fingerlings with 9,85 g ± 0,03 average weight were randomly assigned to 20 70L-aquaria in a completely randomized design with four treatments and five replications. The aquaria were supplied with constant aeration and they were connected to a recirculating system. The experimental period was 90 days. The parameters studied were weight gain, feed conversion ratio, fillet yield, viscera weight, liver weight and fat index. Generally, MPM replacement levels did not affect growth tambaqui growth performance. It was observed a negative linear effect (P<0.1) for fillet yield with the lower results for 100% replacement level. Treatments did not affect the fat index and viscera weight. It was observed quadratic effect (P<0.1) for liver weight with 63.33% being the level which provided the highest liver weight. Economical profitability analysis demonstrated that the control diet had the lower cost and among the treatments which MPM was incorporated the 50% level presented the best economical indices. Besides the MPM could completely replace corn in diets for tambaqui without affecting growth performance, its inclusion in least cost-diets became economically unpractical.
