Etnobotânica: uma questão de gênero?

Resumo

Ethnobotanical study of medicinal plants may be an interesting analysis tool for gender relations in agriculture. This work was developed with the community of Jataí-GO, as part of a project which aimed to rescue the folk knowledge about uses of medicinal plants in this region and targeted to design the profile and the contribution of men and women in activities related to knowledge and use of these plants. Research-administered surveys were established using different sampling methods from interviewees (“Snow Ball” and “random”). Data were submitted to descriptive and correlation statistical analysis, searching the relationship among interviewees knowledge degree about medicinal plants and its sex, age and scholarity degree. The results obtained revealed a strong cultural conservadorism in local community, based in patriarchal values, but suggest a higher female participation tendency.
