Resumo
The artiele discuçses the idea of art as
the 'expression of feelings and emotions,'
beginning from the mntestation of the idea that
it is still common, nearly a stereotype, among
professors of att, The terms of thiç idea (art -
expression - feelings - emotion) are the focus
ot a reflection that points to a few nsks in the
notion of art as expression and, most especially,
OS artas the expression of feelings and emotions.
WithouZ denying the expresçiveness ofhn art, or
the pmibility that emotions and feelings may
be 'expressed' in art, the article calls one's
anention to the partiality, mutability, contextuality
and historieity of the idea jn question. These
points are suggested as important to rwiew lhe
idea of 'arl as the expression of feelings and
ernotions,' making its function relatim and redimensioning
its role in teaching art.
